We finally made it over to CostCo tonight and had our tires changed.

Our Corolla is now the proud owner of 4 new Michelin X Radial tires.  I didn’t end up doing too much research on tires.  I just went to the CostCo site, looked up the tires available for my car, and picked what I thought were reasonably priced tires that had a long warranty.

I then looked up some other reviews to see if anyone on the Internet had said anything terrible about them.  The worst thing said about the X Radials were just that they were a bit pricey.  CostCo had a general sale on four new Michelin tires, so I ended up going with the X Radials over a slight cheaper BF Goodrich tire.

We’ll see how these serve.  We had our original factory tires on the Corolla for over 65,000 miles, which is probably way longer than they should have been on there.  The tread was wearing pretty thin, and I’m terrible at remembering to actually rotate them with any regularity.

The ride home from CostCo wasn’t mind-blowing, but I think the new tires will really show their salt when we first have to drive in rainy conditions.  Our old tires had started to grip less surely in the rain, which is not a great feeling to have, especially when you have a pregnant woman in the car.

Also, CostCo fills all their tires with nitrogen, which if my video game experience has taught me anything, means that I can now use boost.
