Survivor: Fiji began last night, and poor little fashion stylist (but no good at solving puzzles) Jessica was the first one to bite the dust.

The two tribes are named Moto and Ravi, and Moto just reminds me of Katie’s Razr cell phone, which says “Hello Moto” every time it starts up. Which got me thinking: you want to get some even more egregious product placement crammed into that show of yours, Mark Burnett? You can name the two tribes after two products/companies! Then, Jeff would have to say their names multiple times every episode!

Who is my prediction to win the whole thing? Well, I’d like to see Gary or Yau-Man do it, but I think they’re going to get knocked off before it’s all over and done with, so I’m putting my wind behind Anthony’s sails. Come on, he’s an expert witness locator! No, it does not means he’s an expert at locating witnesses. It just means his job is to locate expert witnesses. Yes, I was disappointed, too. I wanted to live in a world where all our job titles conferred the title of expert upon us.

As an avid board and video gamer, I also find it interesting to see what the contestants list as their favorite games, and while many have old standbys like “Monopoly” or “Pac-Man” listed, we do have a few standouts. Alex kicks it old school with Street Fighter (not even SF2 chumps!) and Tetris; my man Antony fires up his PC to play City of Heroes and KOTOR (though, the Survivor site misnames it as “Night of the Old Republic”); Boo lists his favorite video game as Asteroids, a game that I don’t think anyone has ever played for more than 10 minutes; and Michelle wins my heart my having the incredibly sexy Scrabble/Mario Kart combo listed as her two favorites. Our real winners, though, are James and Rita. James lists, among his favorite board games, Chutes and Ladders, which no self-respecting person over the age of 12 should list, as it’s a game that’s devoid of any kind of strategy and full of the knowledge that one wrong die roll can lead you back down to the bottom of the board. Rita probably bought favorite video game Barbie Fashion Designer for her two children, but just found it too irresistibly fun to let them play.
