I posted an entry each day during my 26th year of life.

Day 125: arts and crafts

At the Sims 3 ship party last Friday, I won a $50 gift card to Michael’s. It certainly wasn’t the biggest prize there, but it got me thinking about crafts.

Katie took a student-taught knitting course in college and I learned enough about knitting to be able to knit the middle of a scarf. I couldn’t start a new project or close out a set of knits, but I could continue a straight, square scarf that someone else had started.

I did a tiny cross-stitch that I enjoyed working on my spare time of an elephant holding something silly, like an umbrella or ice cream cone or something.

I like the idea of crafts. I like things that I can do, somewhat absent-mindedly while other things happen, and end up with a piece of stitched art or scarf or the like. Playing video games certainly doesn’t result in baby clothing when I’m done.

It’s also another skill I can teach my hands, which I find to be quite good at picking up things like close-up magic and juggling. Getting them to expertly handle a set of knitting needles shouldn’t be all that hard, right?

Day 124: snails

I never really had any opinion on snails until we moved into our house.

They come out after it rains and our walk is damp. And they crawl out and sit there, extending their bodies slowly like arrogant junior turtles.

And then, I step on them. Or our rolling garbage container crushes them. And it’s disgusting.

It’s bad for us and bad for the snails. I kind of wish they would realize how dangerous our house and all move.

If reincarnation exists, I hope I never come back as a snail.

Day 123: garbage

Every Sunday night, I pull our garbage and recycling out to the curb.

It reminds me of my duties as a homeowner and husband. For that, I appreciate it.

What I don’t enjoy is crushing the snails that lay in my path when it is humid or wet.

Day 122: skullbuggery

I played video games for most of today. That was a bit much, perhaps, but nice.
Our cat (the fat one) is overdue for a vet visit. We’ll have to get on that.
I think she just ate a bug. I hope that kind of thing doesn’t make her sick.

I would very much like to do a staged reading. I think that would be fun. Perhaps I’ll make it a part of my podcast.

I’m afraid I’ll have to cut this post short, as I’m writing on a laptop that is running low on battery. In general, things are going well, except for my fantasy baseball team, which is full of scrubs.
