I posted an entry each day during my 26th year of life.

Day 157: netflix tv

There’s an interesting trend with new titles that have been appearing on Netflix Watch Now – tv shows that are currently airing.

The series appear on Netflix when the season starts, and new episodes show up as they air.

It’s a bit of a win-win proposition. I get to watch shows on my TV (assuming my Xbox decides to work that day) without commercials on my time without having to remember to record it.

The idea of expiring shows is also intriuguing. Showtime has used this to good effect giving previews of new shows.

Either way, I’m interested to see where this goes. If the future of tv means subscribing to Netflix and getting on demand all network shows, count me excited.

Day 156: sadbox

My Xbox 360 is flashing one red light and giving me an E73 error.

I got this once before (about a week ago) and again tonight.  Both times, if I overheat the console using the toothpick trick, it has started working again.

But I’m sad.  I think something in the internals has gone bad and my guess is that it has to do with the solder that holds some important connection together.

I want to have a more permanent fix (as the toothpick hack only seemed to last a week or so), but my 360 is out of warranty.  I may open it up myself and see if I can find some cracked solder or loose connections and fix them.  After all, there’s no warranty left to void, right?  And sending it back to Microsoft to fix for $99 is pretty ludicrous.

I know it’s old hat when it comes to 360s now, but what shoddy construction.  I don’t feel like I did anything wrong in terms of caring for it, and it’s only a little over 2 years old.

I guess I’ll just be playing my Wii in the meantime.  And teaching myself basic soldering.

Day 155: harry ootter and thr half blood princr

Just saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Must say, I’m a bit disappointed. Maybe because the book was massive and it seemed like a bunch was cut to make it fit the running time. Maybe because the climax felt a bit anticlimactic.

Anyway, time to drive home and turn in for the night. Ain’t no party like a Felix Felicis party!

Day 154: tarred

Despite having just come back from a four-day vacation, I’m still pretty tired.

There are several things I should do tonight that I have consciously decided to delay until the morning.

One is scooping the litter box.  The other is clipping my fingernails.

On second thought, I really should get to that litter box tonight.

What I’d really like is some that ice cream I didn’t finish this past weekend.  But it is still in the house near Yosemite!  Alas.
