…arrived!
Totally worth it, and I haven’t even opened the game yet!
Katie & Scott & Simon & Cecily.
I posted an entry each day during my 26th year of life.
Katie made some Hamburger Helper tonight.
The box says it’s 5 servings, but the two of us handily finished it off with no problems.
Five servings? Really? Maybe for babies. Even excepting the fact that Katie is 1.5 people right now and I’m just a big glutton, it’s still ridiculous to think that we could each eat 2.5 servings without feeling like we overstuffed ourselves.
Serving sizes are some of the biggest deceptions of our lives. Forget political secrets or evolution or global warming or Sasquatch. No company makes accurate serving sizes. For foods that taste great and are bad for you, the servings are always too small. For foods that taste bad and are good for you, the servings are always too big.
Either way, it makes it hard to accurately guess how much food to buy and eat. Did you know that suggested serving sizes even for cats are a lie? Our vet told us that the sizes on the back of the box are high as a ploy so that the companies can sell you more cat food!
So you know what? Ignore the numbers! Cut out the nutritional facts box off of your foods and throw it away! Then, when your doctor tells you you’ve had too many heart attacks, you’ll know you’ve eaten too much!
It’s too easy being healthy these days.
It was a day of mixed emotions.
My PS3 came today, and it’s currently set up in our media center and playing a Blu-Ray movie (which looks…pretty similar from the couch). It took a while to download the latest update and set up my online persona, but it was all worth it when my avatar was able to dance the running man in a virtual park and a random stranger joined me in tandem. That’s the future, friends.
On the flip side, the DVR is going. The new TV card is working finely, but after installing both Vista Media Center and MythTV, I think I may go with Vista for a while. The added bonus of being able to easily watch Hulu on the TV is too good to pass up. Still, it’s been longer than I expected and the machine still isn’t quite up to par.
It’s been a tiring day. So here I leave you, dear reader. Until tomorrow, when I hope to be in strictly positive spirits instead of the ambivalence with which I type these words today.
Katie and I went to the Ardenwood Farm (First Annual) Renn Faire (and Shakespeare Festival), although the Shakespeare part of the title is a bit…misguided. There was very little Shakespearean content. Maybe even none.
However, it was still fun and a bit silly. We saw many kids dressed up in charming ways, and some people dressed up as knights who tried to knock each other off horses.
We also ate some authentic ye olde fried rice and pan fried noodles, and saw some goats and sheep (who were not dressed up).
Oh! There was this random guy dressed as a lizard. And a guy dressed as Robin Hood with the head of a fox. I think if you buy one of those costumes, you just find opportunities to wear it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they wore those costumes to work.
