Day 102: pizza with mike

Last night, after the wedding (which was fun and Asian and a bit confusing) we ate in a cave.

To clarify, there’s a restaurant in Edgewater where the inside is essentially a large cave made of paper mâché. I ate a delicious ice cream sundae called the Samurai, to complement the delicious dinner of Chinese food at the wedding.

Today, we went and saw Mike Birbiglia’s one man show, which was entertaining. In case he gets a Google Alert about this, I found him not the least bit pudgy or awkward. He has a unique comic voice, which I found soothing.

What he did, more than anything else, is make me want to eat pizza. So, we are now eating pizza!

The only thing I didn’t accomplish today was going to the Dube juggling store, which was closed. Oh well, we’ll try again tomorrow.

Day 101: wedding

I’m excited! I’m going to a wedding within the hour. There promises to be a lot of food and Asian people.

In the meantime, we’re watching a Sci Fi original movie where Bigfoot ate someone’s face.

I don’t really like horror movies, but there’s something compelling about Sci Fi movies.

Anyway, wedding time!

Day 100: plane crazy

I’m in New York! I’m pretty tired.

I was on a plane and a train today. Then, a bus. Then, I walked.

There was a baby on the train and bus. He waved at me on the bus. He put the top of an unopened coke bottle in his mouth on the train. Babies are great.

I realize that I may appear to be posting this after midnight (local time) but I’m giving myself a free pass today because I crossed over time zones.

Time to make the dymplijgd! That was supposed to say dumplings.

Day 99: deals

I like deals.  I’m a bit of a sucker for them.

I’ll buy something that I have little to no real practical use for if it is discounted highly enough.  A few days ago, I bought 6 pounds of misprinted click pens because I felt it was a good deal.

I often hesitate when making any kinds of purchases at retail anymore (except food) because I’m always fairly certain that I could get something comparable for less online.

I read Sunday ads and weekly sale announcements with zeal, looking to see if something’s price is a large drop from MSRP.

Is it because I love saving money?  I don’t think that quite captures it.  If it did, I wouldn’t buy things I didn’t need that were great deals.  I think it’s because I evaluate everything against its inherent worth (or, at least, against a potential resale value) to see if I pay less for it than it is actually worth.

I often find this to be the case with certain games or movie box sets.  Could I resell this item on eBay or Craigslist for more than I paid for it?  Even used?  Then, count me in for one!

Not that I would sell most of these things.  But the knowledge that I could potentially recoup my costs and more (even after having used it!) is enough to keep me feeling safe and warm.

And if that doesn’t work, I can always tell myself that I’m stimulating the economy.
