Day 241: the secret to going pro at a yogurt by weight place

Layers.

Some froyo.

Some toppings.

More froyo.

More toppings.

Voila!  You’ve just become the envy of every other yogurt-eater in the place.  Also, it means you don’t run into the disappointing situation where you manage to eat all of your toppings but still have a large portion of froyo left to ingest.

Also, speaking of disappointing, I’ve played about 3 hours of the new DS Kingdom Hearts game this weekend and I have yet to see a single Disney character.

Lastly, here’s another secret: Katie’s jeans now have an elastic section around the top of them!

Day 240: junk

I acquire junk.

I don’t think of it as junk, not when I first order it online or grab it at a yard sale or take it for free from a table at work.  But it’s true.  It’s junk.

And it sits in the corners of rooms, on my desk at work, on our kitchen table at home, in our closets, until one day, both Katie and I are cleaning and we come upon something so bizarre and completely impractical that all we can do is stop and stare at it.

We both will look at each other, silently saying the following in our heads:

Katie: What is this thing and can we throw it away?
Scott: But it’s a cool unique kind of thing!  Is it in the way?  Maybe I might use it someday.
Katie: You’re never going to use it.  It doesn’t even work/fit you/have a purpose.
Scott: Maybe I’ll use it in an art project?
Katie: You don’t do art projects.
Scott: Maybe you’ll use it in an art project?
Katie: Sigh.
Scott: I’m sorry.  And ashamed.

Over the years, it really does become a bit appalling.  Did I really have such an obsession with cheap/free knickknacks and fast food toys?  How does one person even collect so much useless stuff?  Why can’t I just throw away my old and completely outdated technology from the 1990s?

Partially laziness, partially nostalgia, partially stubbornness?  Probably mostly laziness, as I don’t even particularly feel attached to most of the stuff we’ve crammed into the back of our closets.

Day 238: the office

When Netflix came to the 360, one of the first TV shows I put on the instant queue was The Office. It had been going for many seasons now and I’d heard good things about it. Also, with the 360 Netflix connectivity, it was just so easy.

The result? Katie and I have been watching The Office off and on for the past few months, up until a few weeks ago. At that point, some upsetting red words appeared on the 360: The Office seasons 1-4 were expiring on October 1! We needed to hurry!

We watched the second half of season 4 with vigor and finished with a day or two to spare. And, on October 1, lo and behold, season 5 appeared on Watch Instantly. So, since the beginning of this month, we’ve been plowing through this past season of episodes in an attempt to be caught up to Jim and Pam’s (SPOILER) wedding. That episode airs tomorrow on live TV, so I’m not sure if we’ll quite make it (we have 4 episodes from last season and the first 3 of this season to catch up on), but we’re much closer than I would have anticipated a few weeks ago.

So, The Office marathons? Recommended. With such short episodes, it’s almost too easy to sit down and watch a third of a season before you even know what you’ve done.

Oh, and the show’s pretty funny as well.
