{"id":788,"date":"2011-01-01T10:16:37","date_gmt":"2011-01-01T18:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=788"},"modified":"2011-01-01T10:16:37","modified_gmt":"2011-01-01T18:16:37","slug":"2010-in-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=788","title":{"rendered":"2010 in review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy new year to all the gents and ladies out there!&#160; It\u2019s time for a very brief year in review.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2010 Resolution Recap<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In one year, be at or below 180 pounds. \u2013 Success!<\/li>\n<li>Find at least 15 minutes each day to read to my son. \u2013 Failure!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2011 Resolutions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read at least one book per month.<\/li>\n<li>Read to Simon at least 3 times a week.<\/li>\n<li>Write something (short fictional prose, a poem, an essay) once a week.<\/li>\n<li>Learn to play the guitar.<\/li>\n<li>Defeat Hunter in Marvel vs Capcom 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Game of the Year 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I played a bunch of games that I thoroughly enjoyed this year, but none as much as <em>Red Dead Redemption<\/em>.&#160; It\u2019s the first Rockstar game I\u2019ve ever finished, and despite very shaky story arcs and character development in the Mexico portion of the game, its open world was one of the first I actually enjoyed simply exploring.&#160; In addition, the last 45 minutes or so of the game is sublime.&#160; Whoever wrote everything starting from the farm-upkeep\/child-raising missions onward should be given a huge pat on the back and a bonus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Movie of the Year 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Simon was born, we didn\u2019t really get a chance to go to the theater much, so I am quite appreciative of Netflix and the different video on demand services we have on our home computers\/consoles.&#160; Which is all to say: we didn\u2019t see as many newly released movies this year as we normally would have in past years.&#160; Anyway, it\u2019s <em>Toy Story 3<\/em>.&#160; That movie was amazing.&#160; It exceeded even my high Pixar trilogy expectations going into it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Things I \u201cdiscovered\u201d in 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taylor Swift (I know, right?)<\/li>\n<li>All your clothes get stained with breastmilk when you have a baby<\/li>\n<li>I was in the minority for liking the LOST finale<\/li>\n<li>Babies drool a lot when they\u2019re a bit older<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m as good a designer as I am\/was a producer<\/li>\n<li>Feeding your baby solid food might seem like an encouraging milestone until they poop<\/li>\n<li>grubhub.com<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to write anything other than: 2010 was the year we had a baby.&#160; That single event eclipses everything else that may have happened this year in importance that it\u2019s hard to remember what else even happened.&#160; Did anything else happen this year?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy new year to all the gents and ladies out there!&#160; It\u2019s time for a very brief year in review. 2010 Resolution Recap In one year, be at or below 180 pounds. \u2013 Success!
