{"id":764,"date":"2010-02-07T23:40:36","date_gmt":"2010-02-08T07:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=764"},"modified":"2010-02-07T23:40:36","modified_gmt":"2010-02-08T07:40:36","slug":"day-361-google-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=764","title":{"rendered":"Day 361: google ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was watching the Super Bowl today, not really rooting for one team in particular (although I have some allegiance to the Colts simply because they\u2019re an AFC team).&#160; And watching the commercials, of course.<\/p>\n<p>I find some of them amusing (I just can\u2019t get enough of that eTrade baby!), some of them dumb (how long can GoDaddy live on manufactured controversy?), when out of nowhere, a sublime Google ad appears.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is, in case you didn\u2019t watch the game:<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px\" id=\"scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:50e6fe5e-adf5-4de4-adaf-3a451a8be041\" class=\"wlWriterEditableSmartContent\">\n<div><object width=\"512\" height=\"296\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.hulu.com\/edp\/http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ehulu%2Ecom%2F\/embed\/8z9bNW8xz8a5FR2Ty9y4nA\/0\/60\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.hulu.com\/edp\/http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ehulu%2Ecom%2F\/embed\/8z9bNW8xz8a5FR2Ty9y4nA\/0\/60\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"512\" height=\"296\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It was the best advertisement I\u2019ve seen in a long time, because it actually made me stop what I was doing and watch it with my full attention.&#160; It featured the advertised product extensively throughout the commercial, it tells a story, and it hits us where we\u2019re most vulnerable: by showing us that Google isn\u2019t some nameless brand that we buy into because of superior absorbency or better handling.&#160; It\u2019s message is that Google is a part of the story of our lives.<\/p>\n<p>And it does all of this with text and environmental music.&#160; It\u2019s one minute of absolute genius.&#160; I don\u2019t often feel like I\u2019ve been blown away by something, but this really did a number on me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was watching the Super Bowl today, not really rooting for one team in particular (although I have some allegiance to the Colts simply because they\u2019re an AFC team).&#160; And watching the commercials, of course.
