{"id":700,"date":"2010-01-08T23:19:03","date_gmt":"2010-01-09T07:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=700"},"modified":"2010-01-08T23:19:03","modified_gmt":"2010-01-09T07:19:03","slug":"day-331-premature-tax-excitement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=700","title":{"rendered":"Day 331: premature tax excitement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m always eager to start doing our tax returns.&#160; Not because I\u2019m some kind of Communist hero who wants to give my money to the government right away, nor because I\u2019m some kind of greedy spender who needs his refund check ASAP.<\/p>\n<p>I think it has a bit to do with the fact that I like seeing the numbers get crunched, as well as wanting to be done with it early enough that I don\u2019t have to worry about anything come April.<\/p>\n<p>I started getting emails from TurboTax as soon as it became 2010, reminding me to get started on my taxes.&#160; Oh, what guilty zeal and excitement those emails gave me in my gooey center.<\/p>\n<p>But, like a fifth grader watching the high school cheerleading team from afar, there\u2019s not much I can realistically do.&#160; Most of the vital income information is in our work W-4s, and those don\u2019t typically get sent until February.&#160; Bank interest statements also trickle in throughout February.<\/p>\n<p>I usually don\u2019t get a complete picture of our tax finances until March.&#160; Why must TurboTax tease me so?&#160; If I could bang out our returns in full tonight, I would!<\/p>\n<p>But alas, we must wait.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, I suppose I\u2019ll play some video games or go to some classes about childbirth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m always eager to start doing our tax returns.&#160; Not because I\u2019m some kind of Communist hero who wants to give my money to the government right away, nor because I\u2019m some kind of greedy spender who needs his refund check ASAP.
