{"id":287,"date":"2009-04-27T18:23:15","date_gmt":"2009-04-28T02:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=287"},"modified":"2009-04-27T18:23:15","modified_gmt":"2009-04-28T02:23:15","slug":"day-75-moving-cubes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.scott-n-katie.com\/blog\/?p=287","title":{"rendered":"Day 75: moving cubes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I moved cubicles today at work, which is always an interesting experience.&#160; It\u2019s like a tiny version of actual moving and it was a little sad to see my old cube entirely empty (except for the few gifts I left for the next occupant: post-it notes, a pen, a stapler, and lots of dust).<\/p>\n<p>It was also a lot of fun to unpack my stuff in my new cube.&#160; What makes unpacking at work typically a bit more fun is two factors: first, it\u2019s much easier to say hello and meet your neighbors than when moving into a house or apartment \u2013 there are no doors in the way \u2013 and second, half of the stuff you unpack are tacky personal items or toys (or perhaps that\u2019s just at EA).<\/p>\n<p>It was made even more fun because one of my new neighbors, Ian, kept exclaiming about how I had so many \u201ccool toys,\u201d which made me feel like the one kid on the block who owned a Super Nintendo.&#160; Although in this case, the Super Nintendo was a postal scale (or a Boba Fett helmet).<\/p>\n<p>Ian also gave me a Christmas Chewbacca (or just a Christmas wookiee \u2013 how can one really tell?), which was nice.&#160; My new space is a bit smaller, but on the plus side, I\u2019m in an open pit now, which means I can look around and see many people (that I assume I\u2019ll be working with) rather than drab cubicle walls.<\/p>\n<p>Directly in my line of sight is the back of Hunter\u2019s head, which is quite nicely tended.&#160; I think he uses a very nice shampoo and conditioner, or perhaps has a personal concierge that washes it for him.<\/p>\n<p>I shall ask him and report the answer tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I moved cubicles today at work, which is always an interesting experience.&#160; It\u2019s like a tiny version of actual moving and it was a little sad to see my old cube entirely empty (except for the few gifts I left for the next occupant: post-it notes, a pen, a stapler, and lots of dust).
